Keeping the big question in mind ...

Does everything in our lives come from something?  If yes, where does it all come from?

Go through the It Comes from a Mine booklet, follow the directions, and complete the activities. Find and name all the items that come from a mine. Try to remember many of the items. Talk about them with your teacher and others in your class. How can you figure it out on your own if they come from a mine?  Can you identify items from a mine by how they look, feel, or smell? How are the items alike? How are the items different?  Do you have any idea how they started as a mineral and ended up something that you use in your life? How did they make that pencil or car or television set?  

Talk about the answers to these questions with your teacher and your classmates. The teacher will record your answers.
