Now you’ve had a chance to learn about the minerals mined in Wyoming and some of the equipment needed to do the work.  Do you agree that working at any kind of a mine requires putting safety first?

It's time to think about the safety rules miners should follow so they don't need a first aid kit!

With your teacher, make a list of all the safety rules for mining that you thought of during your internet adventures. They can be about things to do that can keep the miners safe, special equipment to protect them, or actions they should not do.

Look your list over. Can some of the rules be combined into the same rule because they are so much alike? Which ones are important enough that they have to be a separate rule? Pick at least five safety rules for the safety manual. Your teacher will decide if you will do this on your own or as a class.
