The Big Question for this Minequest:
How can you maximize your chances for successfully completing a Minequest?
For starters, think of it this way. Your teacher could have assigned you to memorize Volume L of the Encyclopedia Britannica or write a report on the history of dental floss. Instead, you’ll be spending class time searching the Internet and working through some tasks with teammates.
Here’s the skinny.
A webquest is a method for learning to use resources on the Internet where there are no posted speed limits or warning bells. It's up to you to apply smart study and research habits to make the best use of your time. Reading and following directions are the most basic skills you need to successfully complete a webquest learning journey.
This Safety Tour will show you examples of the four pages which make up every Minequest journey: Exploring Issues, Mining Information, Processing Ideas, and Producing Solutions.

Always begin with the Exploring Issues page and follow a path through the parts in the order they are listed in the navigation bar at the bottom of each page. However, it’s a good idea to preview all the pages before returning to the Exploring Issues page to begin your journey. You can move among the parts of a Minequest using the gear buttons at the bottom of each webpage.
The first page, Exploring Issues, will always present the Big Question for the Minequest. Every task in a Minequest is designed to give you information to answer it. Organize your thinking around the big question to keep your research on track. Reminders of the question are provided on each page of the quest.
Also in Exploring Issues, you’ll be introduced to the topic and get an idea about the work ahead. Each task you are to complete is labeled and numbered. However, your teacher may make adjustments to the directions, activities or requirements of each Minequest. Of course, your teacher's directions overrule any instructions in the Minequest so be sure to know his or her expectations before causing yourself extra work or missing an assignment.
Just in case you don't know how to use the scroll bar, navigation buttons, and highlighted links, ask a teammate or your teacher for help.
